Universal Studios Shuts Down Popular Harry Potter Attraction

Friends and family vacations can take a lot of planning, and not everything always goes as planned. Flight delays, cancellations, and illnesses often play a role in altering vacation plans, and destinations are taking advantage of this knowledge and working to make it easier to plan vacations and try to create a transparent schedule when it comes to closings, openings, and upcoming renovations.

Universal Studios (CMCSA) – Get a free reportHe wants to help make his guests have the best possible experience and does everything he can to help avoid disappointing visitors. Universal Studios is keeping the public as informed as possible about the closures. This helps travelers plan to either see other attractions while something is closed either for maintenance or renovation or have foreknowledge that they will not be able to see or experience a particular attraction.

Even with all the transparency about renovation closings and scheduled maintenance, things are “coming up.” Just as travelers suffer unexpected setbacks, so do theme parks. Unexpected shutdowns that can be avoided, and the more likely they will be. So when an attraction needs to be closed, it’s not ideal for either party, park or tourist, but unfortunately necessary.

While many expect children to be the theme park guests who could be most upset by being locked down and not being able to do the planned activity, there is another group of people who might be more invested in their vacation, and they are Harry Potter fans.

Harry Potter attraction sudden closure

Potterheads aka Harry Potter Fanatics have a reputation for being a little over the top when it comes to how they anticipate their journey into Universal Studios’ Wizarding World. In fact, more fans than one might expect get excited about visiting an amusement park. The park is as similar to the actual stories as possible. This is no accident. Harry Potter author JK Rawlings’ intention was to make the park as magical as possible and to keep the story lines as magical as possible.

Surprise might be a strong word for the global Harry Potter landmark, which closed this month. Did Universal Studios shut down without warning? no. However, when it comes to how much vacation time to spend with friends and family, it can feel like it’s given almost without notice, since plans are made weeks, months, and even more than a year in advance. Travelers who were hoping to catch the night sky lighting up over Hogwarts Castle are sure to be sorely disappointed, and if they are able to try to change their vacation plans, just to get a chance to see the show.

Harry Potter Night lights at Hogwarts Castle It closed on May 9 with no mention of when the so-called temporary closure will reopen.

Universal Orlando Resort describes The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts as: “On select nights, watch in awe of Hogsmeade Village as projections are projected onto the majestic backdrop of the castle. Celebrate your Hogwarts pride as the four Houses are celebrated in awe-inspiring light and sound. It’s a beautiful way to end Your day at Universal’s Islands of Adventure”.

The attraction has been closed “to make room for improvements to future shows,” according to inside magic. No word on what these improvements will be in future offerings, but they’re sure to inspire when the attraction is re-released.

Potterheads to find new endings for a magical day

Guests who visited Universal Studios’ Wizarding World had what some might consider the greatest end to what could have been the best day ever. Harry Potter fans and fans alike will enjoy the immersive experience throughout the Wizarding World attractions. The perfect end to the perfect visit would be the night lights at Hogwarts Castle. The night was lighting up to highlight four different houses, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Gryffindor through the use of projections into Hogwarts Castle that featured lighting, music, and fireworks.

Now with the temporary shutdown of the Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle, Harry Potter fans may think the night sky looks bleak, but guests can enjoy the evening hours as before enjoying Butterbeer, which is a bit of a rite of passage for Potterheads. Guests with dairy allergies can now enjoy the fan-favorite buttercream, too. This drink is creamy and “dessert” and the dairy-free versions can be enjoyed frozen or cold. While the mixology world has yet to discover a dairy-free Hot Butterbeer recipe, one can only hope that when the nights get cold, even dairy-sensitive Potterheads can enjoy it while it’s hot.
