UrbanChange protocol, a double-token economic model that promotes economic and social sustainability in communities around the world, launches on mainnet. In the coming weeks, the protocol and its demos will be made available to the public.
The UrbanChange Protocol introduces a paradigm shift in how we measure and drive local engagement. The protocol enables community leaders – organizations and individuals alike to maximize the impact of their budgets by promoting local engagement related to sustainability, education, preventative care, diversity and local shopping.
The upcoming launch of the mainnet will allow residents and passionate leaders to be among the first to launch UrbanChange in their communities and receive early adopter benefits, including a dedicated kick-start grant.
UrbanChange’s double-code model Enable community leaders to define, track and achieve their goals by motivating residents to participate in community initiatives. Ultimately, this generates a strong circular local economy that leads to increased economic and social prosperity, and gives residents a true sense of ownership.
The protocol model uses two tokens: LocalCoins and ImpactTokens. These symbols work together to stimulate an ongoing cycle of social engagement and economic growth.
LocalCoin is a local currency. Residents earn LocalCoins for taking actions that support community goals such as recycling, volunteering, and promoting education, and then use their LocalCoins to shop at local whitelisted businesses.
Spending LocalCoins is worth ImpactTokens. ImpactTokens provide voting and governance rights to community members and provide access to the benefits associated with cross-ownership. Ultimately, ImpactTokens reflect the prosperity and level of social engagement of urban communities.
Local Hero Program and Grants
The upcoming mainnet launch will allow communities to launch their own LocalCoins and ImpactTokens in order to catalyze a unique cycle of economic growth and social impact. In preparation for the launch, UrbanChange has made room for community leaders around the world to receive a grant of the 5,000 UrbanChange Tokens needed to launch their community on the UrbanChange protocol. A total of 10 grants will be distributed to community leaders who join the Local Champions Program and take the necessary steps to open the UrbanChange Vault.
UrbanChange’s Local Champions program is designed to support UrbanChange leaders in communities around the world. The program provides leaders with the resources to spread the word and successfully implement UrbanChange in their local communities.
