Walmart Has a Really Unexpected New Partnership

An unlikely partnership is formed with retail giant Walmart and a company founded for self-expression.

Allowing individuals the ability to express themselves through their own skin is a very important step for many young people and adults to be able to accept themselves and be who they want to be without any real authority telling them that they cannot be who they want to be. Taking control of one’s autonomy allows individuals to feel empowered. Getting piercings is another way many people find ways to express their personal styles.

Dying poetry is also an elegant form of self-expression. Just a few decades ago, it was still taboo to see someone with green or purple hair. Not only is it now seen as a personal choice and fashion statement, but it is also widely accepted as a look for anyone regardless of their age, gender or where they are in life.

Wal-Mart takes notes on self-expression

Self-expression is something that many people find an outlet for lots of different things in life. Being artistic and wearing bold colors in your hair and clothes gives you a sense of individuality and independence. The same goes for being able to enjoy a tattoo, even if it’s only temporary.

Inkbox, an international company that makes temporary tattoos, has partnered with Walmart to begin carrying the company’s products. Inkbox was acquired in 2022 by Bic, a company that makes pens, for $65 million. That’s not too bad for Inkbox’s co-founders, brothers Tyler and Braden Handley, who started the company in 2015 with just $10,000, according to Retail Dive.

“Walmart is committed to expanding its portfolio and bringing new brands that our customers will be excited about,” said Creighton Kepper, vice president of Walmart Beauty in the US. “We are thrilled to welcome Inkbox and believe our customers will love this new way of expressing themselves.”

Beauty differs for each person in terms of what that individual feels about beauty and how it applies to themselves. “Temporary tattoos give consumers the opportunity to express themselves and their creativity with the originality and quality of a permanent tattoo, but without the commitment,” said Braden Handley, co-founder and president of Inkbox. “This has been our mission since day one and we are excited to collaborate with Walmart on an exclusive collection for their customers. We hope this allows more individuals to celebrate their story and creativity in a new way.”

Individual at mass retailer

Individuals of all ages are looking for ways to express themselves either through fashion, hairstyles, and colors, or through other artistic creations. These people under the age of 18 have the hardest time trying to find their personal styles as a means of expressing themselves, because they are limited not only by the fashion that is available, the affordability, and the legality of getting permanent ink or piercings on their bodies.

Inkbox has given these clients a chance to learn how to express themselves through the use of temporary tattoos. These are not the temporary tattoos you can buy at the gas station for 50 cents that may or may not last an hour or a day before they start to fade and fall off, but they are temporary tattoos that will last up to two weeks. The designs are unique and give those, especially those under the age of 18, a chance to experience what it would be like to get a tattoo and where.

Walmart has nearly 5,000 stores nationwide and Inkbox will be sold in 1,500 stores and online at Walmart.com. A pack of two Inkbox temporary tattoos are sold online for $9.98. Currently, Walmart’s star rating for Inkbox tattoos is a high of 4.5 stars out of a possible five, which is a very good indication of how well these temporary tattoos apply and how long they last. Some of Inkbox’s most popular designs sold out after the launch of the product partnership on April 3rd. These tattoos are waterproof and look original compared to other temporary tattoos and are also vegan.
