Centrus Energy (New York Stock Exchange: LEU) +4.2% in deliberation on Thursday after it said it had completed operational readiness reviews with the US Nuclear Regulatory Authority and received NRC approval to have the uranium through centrifuges at its Picketton, Ohio, site.
Centrus (LEU) said yes It is “a milestone in progress toward first-of-its-kind production of highly enriched and low-enriched uranium,” and that it remains on track to start production by the end of this year.
The company said that the construction of the centrifuge series and most of the support systems has now been completed, and it has also finished preliminary testing of these systems; Next steps include completing construction of the HALEU storage area on site and conducting final pre-commissioning testing activities, with initial production of HALEU to commence by the end of 2023.
