A new poppy distribution initiative and remembrance programs will highlight the campaign

OTTAWA, Ontario, Oct. 18, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Royal Canadian Legion’s National Poppy Campaign is just around the corner and will feature new and returning initiatives. the National Poppy Campaign It officially starts on Friday, October 25th.

“We are always looking for new ways to grow our annual campaign and expand our ability to serve our veterans and families,” says Berkeley Lawrence, Dominion President. “This year we will have something new to share.”

New collaboration coming!

Both traditional poppy donation boxes and “praise” The clickable ones will be available for donations in thousands of locations. Donors will also be able to donate through the Legion National website. But there is more. Next week, the Legion will unveil a brand-new collaboration that will significantly enhance the organization’s ability to distribute poppies on a large scale. Stay tuned for details.

The Corps will present its grassroots initiative called “Poppy stories“Where people can use their smartphones to go Poppystories.cascan their lapel and learn the story of one Canadian veteran. This year marks 100y Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force, so when people scan their poppies this year, they will first reach for the personal stories of RCAF veterans.

Nearly $20 million is donated during the National Poppy Campaign each year and goes directly to initiatives for Support Canada’s veterans and their families, and helps enhance remembrance.

On November 11: National Concert, two minutes silence, concert location locator

On November 11, the country’s legionnaires will be held National Day commemoration ceremony Which will be broadcast live from Facebook page. We will again ask Canadians to take up Two minutes of silence Wherever they are that day.
