In 2024, the dollar experienced its strongest year since 2015, rising more than 7% against the world’s major currencies. But despite the war, the shekel has remained equivalent to the US dollar over the past year. In the weeks following October 7, the shekel/dollar rate, at its weakest level, reached NIS 4.08/$, then recovered to NIS 3.627/$ by the end of 2023. Throughout 2024, the shekel/dollar rate remained relatively stable, closing higher By 0.027%. Today at 3.647 shekels/dollar.
The shekel has outperformed against most other major currencies, opening the year against the euro at NIS 4.074/EUR and rising to NIS 3.796/EUR today. Against the British pound, the shekel rose only slightly, opening the year at NIS 4,621/GBP and closing the day at NIS 4,574/GBP.
