Dominic Williams, Chief Scientist at DFINITY, shares key upgrades implemented across the Internet’s blockchain protocol.
Williams participated in an updated presentation for the Internet Computer (ICP) outlining new developments in the decentralized network he dubbed the “World Computer.” Perhaps the most audacious claim of all, document He said that native ICP applications are immune to cyber attacks.
This means that hackers and ransomware attacks cannot infiltrate tools built and hosted on the ICP network. The improved security has paved the way for streamlined web development using blockchain technology and reduced application management requirements, according to the report.
The information shared by Williams also revealed that the new ICP supports expanded AI functionality. Developers can train AI models resident in the network to “design, build, deploy, and deliver” applications. One example details a user setting up a limit sell order for Bitcoin (BTC) using AI prompts. Limit orders refer to trades that are executed at predetermined prices.
ICP also provides automated processes for DAOs and on-chain governance. In other words, the AI model can manage tasks when community members submit their proposals.
AI DAO tools on ICP can also finalize proposal parameters if they gain community approval, reducing the chances of human error and coding bugs. Williams and the DFINITY Foundation noted that these updates have significantly boosted on-chain computing on the ICP network, with the updated group highlighting a 500% year-over-year growth in this area.
The DFINITY Foundation emerged from the Ethereum community in 2015 and launched the open-source ICP protocol in May 2021. ICP envisions itself as a decentralized global chain where anyone can build anything.
