CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 30, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Direct Energy Regulatory Services has announced default natural gas prices for October 2024. These prices will apply to customers who have not selected a competitive supplier within the ATCO North and South gas service areas. . Rates have been verified by the Alberta Utilities Commission.
nORTH SERVICE AREA
The North Region includes customers living in and north of Red Deer.
• For customers in the ATCO Gas North service area, the October regulated natural gas price decreases from the September price of $0.848 per GJ to $0.627 per GJ.
• This rate reflects the market price for October supplies of approximately US$0.583 per gigajoule, as reported on NGX, and includes an adjustment of US$0.044 per gigajoule for September and prior months.
• A typical residential gas bill for October, based on an average of 9 gigajoules of consumption, would be about north of $138.

SSouthern service area
The South Zone includes customers who live south of Red Deer.
• For customers in the ATCO Gas South service area, the October regulated natural gas price decreases from the September price of $0.848 per GJ to $0.627 per GJ.
• This rate reflects the market price for October supplies of approximately US$0.583 per gigajoule, as reported on NGX, and includes an adjustment of US$0.044 per gigajoule for September and prior months.
• A typical residential gas bill for October, based on an average of 9 gigajoules of consumption, would be about $117 in the South.
