Donald Trump gifted Tesla Cybertruck — right after slamming EVs

Controversial streamer Dennis Ross banned from Twitch at least He has been interviewed seven times and gifted former President Donald Trump a custom Tesla Cybertruck on Monday.

After interviewing Trump for just over an hour, Ross led Trump out of his Mar-a-Lago home to deliver the Cybertruckwhich was decorated with the now-famous image of a bloodied Trump raising his fist after being shot, a collection of American flags, and the red “Make America Great Again” slogan wrapped around the front.

“This is Elon Musk’s car. It’s beautiful and amazing,” Trump joked when he saw the car, referring to Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

The gift came right after Trump gave a four-minute speech about an “electric car mandate” that would “destroy the country.”

The Republican candidate began his speech by talking about the massive amount of electricity AI requires, and that if he became president, he would build more power plants to accommodate the new technology. He then turned his attention to what he saw as the waste of electricity.

“As you know, they have an electric car mandate, and electric cars don’t go far. They’re very expensive. They’re going to be made in China,” Trump said. “And under Biden, he wants everybody to drive electric cars: no more gas cars, no more hybrids, no more anything. Think about it. How crazy.”

He then focused on the short distance that electric cars could travel compared to traditional internal combustion engine vehicles that use gasoline or diesel.

“It’s the same with trucks; they want them to be electric,” Trump said, adding that an electric truck would have to stop “six times” to get from his home in Mar-a-Lago to Los Angeles, while a diesel truck would not be able to stop at all on the roughly 2,600-mile trip.

“One gentleman, the biggest guy in the business, said to me, ‘I’ve been buying trucks all my life, and for 50 years I’ve been buying trucks, and every year they’ve gotten bigger, stronger, better, prettier,’” Trump said. “He said the truck 50 years ago would have been better than the truck they’re using now. And I said, ‘When you explain that, do they do anything?’ They sit there and they look and they say, ‘We don’t care. This is our mission. You have to go all electric.’”

“Awful,” Ross replied. Then he ended the interview. “I know you’re very busy,” Ross said, referring to the Cybertruck. “But I want to give you one last gift.”

Ross and Trump sat in the truck and listened to songs by the Beatles, the Beach Boys and Michael Jackson (“a very good man,” Trump said). The former president didn’t talk much about the truck or offer any praise for it beyond calling it “beautiful” and “amazing,” but he did send Musk a message, saying, “Elon, you’re awesome. I don’t know if you’re watching this but you’re really good.”

According to Ross, more than half a million people watched the live broadcast. He praised Trump and also gave him a Rolex watch. Ross has faced multiple bans from streaming platforms because of use of hate speech Displaying inappropriate content during live broadcast. Influencer Andrew Tate also supportedwho faces serious legal issues including: Rape and human trafficking charges.

The Cybertruck gift comes a day after Trump said he had “no choice” but to support electric vehicles since Musk began endorsing him.

After a long history of denouncing electric cars, Trump told supporters in Atlanta that they were not bad at all, and that electric cars might remain a small segment of the U.S. auto market if he regained the White House.

“I’m for electric cars. I should be, you know, because Elon Musk has been so supportive of me,” he said in comments widely shared among Musk’s fan base by accounts like John Stringer’s “Silicon Valley Tesla Owners” and Blog site Teslarty. “So I have no choice.”

Now Trump may have no choice but to become a Tesla owner himself. It’s unclear whether he accepted the gift.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
