Elbit Systems wins contracts worth $335m in Europe

Elbit Systems Ltd. won. (TSX: ESLT, Nasdaq: ESLT) has contracts worth a total of about $335 million (NIS 1.25 billion), to supply defense systems to a European country. The contracts include the supply of PULS (Precision and Universal Launch Systems) missile launchers and missiles, and Hermes 900 unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) equipped with advanced payloads. The contracts will be implemented over a period of three years and six months.

Elbit Systems’ PULS provide a comprehensive, cost-effective solution capable of launching unguided missiles, precision guided munitions and missiles of varying ranges. The PULS launcher is fully adaptable to wheeled and tracked platforms, allowing significant reductions in maintenance and training costs.

As can be seen from the current regime and many previous regimes, the Russia-Ukraine war has led to soaring defense budgets in Europe, with Greece being a clear example of this. The Greek government is considering replacing the aging MLRS launchers with PULS or Lockheed Martin’s A2.

The multi-role Hermes 900 MALE UAS is Elbit Systems’ largest unmanned aerial vehicle, designed to perform a wide range of missions, including area control and sustained intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) across land and sea domains. According to Elbit Systems, the Hermes 900 has been chosen by more than 20 customers around the world. The Hermes 900 is widely used by the Israel Defense Forces. The Hermes 900 and 450 aircraft are also an important part of Elbit Systems’ collaboration with the Indian defense industry. In December 2018, Elbit Systems and Adani Defense and Aerospace launched a joint venture to produce both models. According to foreign reports, the price of the Hermes 900 could reach $6.85 million per unit, while the price of the Hermes 450 could reach $2 million.

“We are proud to support our European customers with advanced, versatile defense solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and adaptability,” said Elbit Systems President and CEO Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis. “These contracts reflect global confidence in our innovative systems, such as PULS and Hermes 900, which are designed to meet A wide range of mission requirements.”
