Elizabeth Holmes has lost her final bail request while she appeals her fraud conviction.
Tuesday’s ruling by the US Court of Appeals in San Francisco means that the founder of Theranos Inc. He’ll soon have to report to prison to begin her 11 1/4-year sentence after a jury convicted her last year of defrauding investors in the blood. Startup test.
Holmes was granted a brief pause to delay the start of her prison term while the appeals court considered her application. The appeals panel upheld the lower court judge presiding over Holmes’ trial and denied her request for bail. She can still pursue an appeal of her conviction, but she must do so from prison.
A similar request by former Theranos chief Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani was also denied. He went to jail last month to begin his 13-year sentence.
