The FAA is calling for inspections of all Boeing 787s, as regulators and experts fear leaky bathroom faucets could damage the plane’s electronic systems.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a proposal to conduct inspections on Boeing 787 planes, after reports indicated there were “multiple” rooftops of water leaks from bathrooms to bays where electronic equipment is stored.

The agency said that the leaks threaten to damage important electronic equipment. Fox Business Reports, and could result in “the loss of continued flight and safe landing”. After a wet carpet was discovered in the plane’s cockpit, an inspection revealed “multiple” planes with leaky faucets in the 787 fleet.
Boeing reported the issue to airlines last year, blaming a problem with the O-ring seal that resulted in a slow leak of about 8 ounces of water per hour. A new version of the seal is in the works, and Boeing is working out when the 787s can undergo an update with the new version.
The Dreamliner is a widebody passenger airliner that is often used for long-distance and international flights.
