Susan Wojcicki, the former CEO of YouTube and one of the first employees at Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL), has died at the age of 56 after a two-year battle with cancer, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said on social media platform X on Saturday.
“I am incredibly saddened to lose my dear friend Susan Wojcicki after two years of battling cancer,” Pichai wrote in a post. “She is as much a part of Google’s history as anyone else, and it’s hard to imagine a world without her.”
Fujisaki, one of the most prominent women in tech, will step down from her role at YouTube in 2023, a position she has held for nine years.
“I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Susan Wojcicki,” Wojcicki’s husband, Dennis Tropper, wrote on Facebook earlier in the night. “My beloved wife of 26 years and mother of our five children left us today after battling non-small cell lung cancer for two years.”
