The Israeli Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure announced that the maximum price of government-controlled 95-octane gasoline at self-service stations in Israel will be reduced as of midnight Saturday, September 1, by NIS 0.19 per liter to NIS 7.29 per liter. The service fee at stations of NIS 0.22 per liter will remain unchanged.
The price of gasoline in Israel is affected by fluctuations in the price of oil barrels traded in the Mediterranean basin and the exchange rate of the shekel against the dollar. When calculating the latest formula for determining the price of fuel at the end of August, the exchange rate of the shekel against the dollar was at a level similar to that at the end of July, but oil prices fell.
This is the second month in a row that gasoline prices have fallen in Israel. However, in the first half of the year there was a sharp rise in gasoline prices, with the price of government-controlled 95-octane gasoline at self-service pumps reaching NIS 7.90, just NIS 0.35 less than the previous record (NIS 8.25 per liter) in 2012.
