700,000,000 satoshis (7 bitcoins), currently worth US$706,000 at the time of writing, have been awarded across 20 different projects around the world with a focus on arts education for people living under authoritarian regimes, independent media, decentralizing mining, and supplying blockchain… Human rights more. Reference implementation of layer V2 (SRI), an open source software that decentralizes Bitcoin mining by enabling nodes to create their own block templates. This helps promote individual mining, reduces reliance on large mining pools, and enhances Bitcoin’s permissionless and censorship-resistant properties. The funding will support developer bit-aloo’s full-time work on SRI, including benchmarking tools to evaluate Stratum V2 performance, integration testing, code base maintenance, and software documentation.
Public poola free and open source mining pool optimized for low hash rate hardware (mining hardware with limited computational power). Users can self-host a Stratum server and choose their own block templates without relying on a third party. By making Bitcoin mining easier and more decentralized, Public Pool strengthens the Bitcoin network. The funding will support hosting costs, hardware upgrades and operational expenses.
Sleepingthe first female Bitcoin Core developer from Africa. Hailing from Kenya, she is dedicated to promoting an open financial system rooted in transparency, freedom and fairness. Her work focuses on reviewing pull requests (PRs), addressing errors with new pull requests, and improving the Bitcoin Core database. The funds will support her full-time contributions to Bitcoin Core development.
Daniela Brusoni,Experienced software developer. Previously, I contributed to the Bitcoin Development Kit (BDK), a software library that allows you to create cross-platform Bitcoin wallets. She is now shifting her focus to Bitcoin Core, where her work will be reviewing major pull requests (PRs), contributing new features, and improving test coverage. Through her efforts, Daniela aims to promote decentralization, privacy, and flexibility in Bitcoin. This grant will support her full-time contributions to Bitcoin Core.
UX/UI design for Bitcoin Core,Redesign work by the product designer Michael Haas It aims to bring the Bitcoin Core app to mobile devices (making it available beyond desktop use). This update will enable users to run nodes, access core wallet features (such as silent payments and multi-signature) directly on their phones, and improve their financial privacy. The funding will support the project design and development.

Tandoa new payment app co-founded by Sabina Gitau, to enable 54 million Kenyans to have the option to use Bitcoin for everyday transactions. Through integration with M-PESA, Kenya’s leading mobile payment system, Tando allows users to pay with Bitcoin via a Lightning wallet, while merchants receive Kenyan Shillings. The platform is KYC-free, charges no fees, and provides a private and affordable payment solution. The funds will help boost Tando’s liquidity, support its growing user base, and drive expansion across the African continent.
Yaky honeya client of the decentralized Nostr protocol created by a team in East and Southeast Asia. Developed by Wendy Ding to support freedom of expression and promote Bitcoin payments across 170 countries. With innovative functionality and a mix of online and offline events, YakiHonne seeks to promote the adoption of decentralized social media. The funding will support smart tool development, relay network improvements, and influencer engagement to expand Nostr’s reach and impact.
SeedSigner Multilingual Support A translation project by developer Ace to integrate multilingual functionality into SeedSigner’s fully customizable, open source hardware portfolio. This will enhance accessibility for users around the world and empower marginalized communities to achieve financial sovereignty through inexpensive and accessible self-custody. The funding will support the developer’s efforts to deliver a multilingual version of SeedSigner over the next year.
moodinessa peer-to-peer Bitcoin trading app founded by Leah Petrasova to provide users with a private and free Know Your Customer (KYC) Bitcoin experience. By connecting users through their phone contacts, Vexl enables direct and secure Bitcoin transactions in a peer-to-peer manner. The app aims to make private Bitcoin use easier while providing crucial protection against authoritarian regimes. The funding will support Vexl’s growth, with a focus on reaching African communities and driving improvements to its back-end infrastructure.
Tomatech, a community focused on building a team of developers in India for developing Bitcoin infrastructure and Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) projects. By providing mentorship and training, it bridges the gap between education and work experience. Additionally, its cultural center and community space in Goa will foster a vibrant Bitcoin community through meetups, workshops and residencies. The funding will support developer training, establishment of a developer center, grants and scholarships, and general operations.

It features unlimited operations, key management and backup, an intuitive interface, and support for 10 languages. This project can help decentralize Bitcoin custody and protect freedom and property rights in authoritarian regimes. The developer funding will help Odudex develop this innovative open source project.
irisa Nostr web client created by developer Martti Malmi designed to make private and secure messaging simpler and more secure. Using the MIT-licensed Double Ratchet library, it aims to improve the protection of metadata and message content, ensuring conversations remain private – especially in surveillance environments. The funding will support the hiring of a developer to expand Iris’ features and functionality.
African UX Bitcoin Bootcampa program that gives talented Bitcoin UX designers from authoritarian countries the opportunity to attend the African Bitcoin Conference (ABC) for hands-on training and networking. led by Bitcoin Design FoundationCo-Founder Mogashni Naidoo, participants will receive on-ground training and test how easy it is to use their products at ABC. The funds will cover program expenses, including flights, accommodation and logistics, ensuring accessibility for all participants.
Bitcoin historya research project by Pete Rizzo dedicated to documenting and preserving key people, events, and materials (i.e. photographs, videos, links, and information) that shaped Bitcoin’s rise as a global force in monetary and human rights. The project focuses on the “history of the future of money,” and highlights Bitcoin’s role as a tool for financial freedom. The grant will support an additional researcher to investigate and document stories of the use of Bitcoin against authoritarian regimes.
Kashu-TSthe core SDK in the Cashu ecosystem developed by Gandlaf21. It simplifies wallet creation, integrates the latest protocol updates, and supports popular wallets (such as Minibits, eNuts, and Nutstash). By enabling the development of secure, privacy-focused “digital cash” wallets, Cashu-ts plays a vital role in the development of the Cashu ecosystem and financial privacy. This grant will support developers in maintaining and improving this essential library.
Unificationa Payjoin wallet developed by Fontaine to enhance privacy in Bitcoin transactions. Built with Nostr and Bitcoin Core, it leverages Payjoins to hide transaction records by enabling multiple parties to make collaborative payments (making Bitcoin inherently more private). This function is especially important for individuals navigating oppressive systems. The funding will support full-time developer contributions, developing Unify’s features and expanding its compatibility with other wallets.
The Financial Freedom Policy Alliance, a political coalition founded by a Venezuelan activist, Jorge Jreissatibrings together youth leaders, policy makers and industry experts to advance economic opportunities for people living under authoritarian regimes. The coalition plans to conduct advocacy missions to educate policymakers on how Bitcoin supports human rights and creates social benefits. The funds will cover the costs of organizing and managing these functions.
John attacka Bitcoin Core contributor and editor of Bitcoin Improvement Proposals (BIP), is known as one of the best Bitcoin Core contributors of all time. As a dedicated developer, he plays a pivotal role in promoting Bitcoin’s decentralization and power. Atack is also a vocal advocate for using Bitcoin and open source software as tools to resist tyranny and promote universal human rights. This grant will enable him to continue his vital contributions to the development of Bitcoin.
