Nigel Farage said he could not think of any government in recent times that has done more to destroy British food production.
Talking to GB News Nigel Farage said: “In Downing Street this morning, there was a gathering, it seemed, of all the great and good of British agriculture and Rishi Sunak, making a speech and talking about food production.
“I can't think of any government in modern times that has done more to stop British food production, but that all seems to have changed today.
“I'm told many in the audience stood to attention as the band played the national anthem. Sunak did not choose either which is a strange choice.
“But what about the content of what he said? ‘We are on your side, we are with you. We will appoint a new commissioner for tenant farming.
“What we will do is bureaucratize agriculture more, and that will really help you. We will launch a new food security index to measure how much of the fruit and vegetables we consume are produced in this country.”
He added: “Well, it's just pure electioneering, and as I say, it goes completely against everything we tried to do under Boris Johnson, but I think that's politics.”
