I’m not getting a smart meter

Nigel Farage has responded to British Gas CEO demands that smart meters be mandatory in the UK by saying he would never get one and saying many people who do are being bullied.

Farage also noted that the reason many UK households do not have such facilities is because they do not trust utility companies, for fear of their supplies being interrupted.

talk on GB News Nigel Farage said: “I think most people get smart meters because they're literally bullied by them. I'm constantly getting these messages telling me it's urgent that I get a smart meter.

“She knocked on the door and told me I should get a smart meter.

“I don't get a smart meter.

“They'll tell you you'll save the money and all the rest of it, and of course you won't.

“Why? And because they use it because they want to — and they admit it — the water companies have explicitly acknowledged managed demand, which means that when it's appropriate, they can turn you off.

“When windmills and solar farms don't produce enough electricity, they can put out the same thing with water, and actually the same thing with gas.

Chris O'Shea, the British Gas boss who took home £8.2m last year, said smart meters should be mandatory in every home, in order to meet, you guessed it, net zero targets.

“There you are. There you are, you have to be connected to a smart meter to be able to meet net zero.

“He's upset that 44% of his customers don't have it, and that's probably Chris O'Shea, because they don't actually want it because they don't trust you or any of the other companies.”
