Israel moves up in int’l arms trade

Arms imports by European countries increased by 155 % in the period 2020-2024, compared to 2015-2019, and despite the challenges of iron war swords, Israel rose to eight weapons exports, which led to the displacement of Espin, according to the annual report of the report Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (Cibry), which monitors the global arms trade.







In the report last year, which covered the 2019-2023 period, Spain formed 2.7 % of all arms exports, and Israel 2.4 %. In the current report, which covers 2020-2024, Israel's share of weapons exports is 3.1 %, and 3 % from Spain. Above Israel countries like the United Kingdom (3.6 %), Italy (4.8 %), Germany (5.6 %), Russia (7.8 %) and France (9.6 %). The United States is still far from the largest arms source, with 43 % of the total. The three largest importers of arms from Israel in this period were India (34 %), the United States (13 %), and the Philippines (8.1 %).

Israel was the third largest arms importer from Germany in this period, with 11 % of Germany's total exports, and the eleventh among the arms importers from the United States, with 3 % of the total US defense exports.

Israel was fifteen around the world for weapons, as it represents 1.9 % of total imports, which is similar to the percentage in the previous five years.

Israel stands out as an arms supplier to major countries such as India and the United States. In both cases, Israel is the third largest source of weapons (13 %). Israel ranks second in imports by the United Kingdom (6.9 %), the Philippines (27 %), Germany (13 %), and in the third place for Morocco (11 %).

According to the SIPRI report, weapons from Ukraine increased by 9627 % in 2020-2024 compared to 2015-2019. The Ukraine war with Russia began to invade the latter in 2022. This puts Ukraine first among arms importers worldwide, with 8.8 % of the total, followed by India, India, Saudi Shows and Pakistan.

In fact, in the past five years, Ukraine has been the only European country among the ten best importers of weapons, and its main sources are the United States (45 %), Germany (12 %) and Poland (11 %).
