If only it were up to the Dan brothers, Yossi and Andre, and their indefatigable small company challengeIsraeli technological innovation will be a major part of the French business stream.
As we mentioned in previous articles, bringing giant companies from abroad to Israel during high-risk periods such as now presents a number of difficulties for them, including insurance coverage for visits during war.
So in this case, the solution for Yossi Dan and Challenger was to organize a trip in the other direction, which is what he had done previously. After bringing a multi-disciplinary team to the giant Vivatech exhibition last June, this time it focused on climate technology and sustainable cities.
About 16 Israeli startups, as well as a law firm and an investment company, spent a few days meeting with representatives of five major French companies working in this field, in ClimaTech Israel Summit in Paris.
None of the startup participants could have made the journey and exposure to the French giants alone. Here they are:
Boson energy – Large-scale decarbonization of transportation.
Brinmiller – Storing thermal energy to remove carbon from industrial heat and power plants.
Createra – Cement-free building products.
eLinkAir – Automated charging devices for buses and electronic trucks.
Elsway – Easily accessible e-mobility charging.
Eva Greentech – Converting demolition waste into construction materials.
Flower turbines – Innovations in small wind.
Funpressor – Cooling technology reduces cooling energy consumption.
GreenVibe – Direct measurement of concrete strength in real time
Helios – Cost effective way to reduce iron ore with zero carbon dioxide emissions.
Hydro X – Revolutionary technology for storing and transporting hydrogen.
Oasisex – Heat/cold pump with dual thermal energy storage.
Revoltz – Compact electric vehicle.
SolCold – Nano technology cooling coating solution.
Starstone – Biologically based concrete solution using bacteria in fermenters.
UBQ materials – Transforming household waste that is difficult to recycle into materials that have a positive impact on the climate.
Israeli startups were invited to Paris by Bouygues Construction, Colas Group and Equans (three Bouygues Group companies), Egis Group and Saint-Gobain, all huge French companies and major players in the construction and building materials fields in France. And all over the world.
With innovation focused on urban construction, decarbonisation, energy impact and distribution, bio-solutions and transportation, these startups could be a perfect fit for French giants.
“My dream is that the pilot projects of these large groups will benefit from Israeli innovative technology,” Yossi Dan said. “This is all business-to-business in terms of technology and investment, and there is real interest in Israeli startups.”
Partners include Planetech, which brings together the Israeli climate technology ecosystem; “Light the Spark”, promoting energy technology in Israel; Shipolet & Associates Law Firm; and Carmel Winery. Sephora Cohen, who is in charge of business development at the Israeli Embassy here in Paris, was also present.
It is estimated that one in five startups in Israel work in climate technology. This summit was a giant step for those attending. What happens next could be anything…under the shining sun.
