Kithor Kindiki was sworn in as Vice President to replace Regathi Gachagwa, who was impeached by Parliament in October.

The opening ceremony on Friday morning at the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) saw President William Ruto and Chief Justice Martha Koum, among a host of distinguished guests.

Among the leaders who witnessed the ceremony were Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Cabinet Ministers Hassan Joho, Davis Churcher, Abio Wandaye, Julius Ugamba, Justin Muturi and Aden Duale.

Also in attendance were Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthumi Njoki, Embu’s Cecilie Mbarire, Paul Otoma (Busia), Stephen Sang (Nande) and Abdi Goyo (Isiolo).

Since 6:30 a.m., hundreds of Kenyans have thronged the venue to watch the ceremony.

Long queues were seen as Kenyans made their way to KICC amid tight security around the vicinity.

While some were covered in the colors of the national flag, others waved national flags as they received dignitaries at the venue.

Many dignitaries including Cabinet Ministers, Governors, Senators and senior state officials arrived at KICC.

Entertainment groups, including the House Choir, entertained attendees before Professor Kindeke and other state officials arrived for the ceremony.
