MediaTek & Nvidia Partner to Enhance User In-Cabin AI Experience in Affordable & Luxurious Automobiles

Leading chip companies MediaTek and Nvidia recently combined resources to “deliver a truly unique AI experience” inside the cabin in cars.

It is owned by the Taiwanese company MediaTek partners With US chip maker giant NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) to bring enhanced AI technology to cars. The partnership seeks to renew in-vehicle experiences with intelligent, software-defined cabin solutions using Nvidia GPUs. Synthetic and accelerated co-computing offerings will be available in a wide range of vehicle classes, from entry-level to premium cars.

Executives Comment on the MediaTek-Nvidia AI Infotainment Automotive Experience

MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai and NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang announced the partnership inspired by Automotive AI recently. Computex Press Conference. Tsai is excited about the prospects for the collaboration and praises Nvidia’s industry-leading predecessors, saying:

Meanwhile, Huang was equally optimistic about combining forces with Taiwanese competitor MediaTek to improve the auto industry. The CEO of Nvidia explained that artificial intelligence and accelerated computing could change the automotive industry. Through the collaboration of MediaTek and Nvidia, car owners will be able to enjoy enhanced security, enhanced user experiences, and connected services.

By combining Nvidia’s graphics processing units (GPUs) and artificial intelligence (AI) technology with MediaTek chipsets, Huang suggested the final feature would elevate the in-car user experience.

Nvidia develops graphics processing units for many personal user devices, including laptops, desktop computers, workstations, and servers. In addition, the leading US software and fabless company also offers systems-on-a-chip (SoCs) for automotive and robotics applications. MediaTek plans to integrate these high-end GPUs into its automotive SoCs to improve its AI technology in cars.

The automotive SoCs developed specifically for the Taiwanese fabless company will feature Nvidia’s proprietary AI and graphics in their design architecture. Nvidia chipsets will also be connected through ultra-fast chiplet interconnect technology.

Other details regarding the upcoming integrated chipset model, including the name or specifications, are still unknown. However, the information indicates that the auto AI display will belong to the MediaTek Dimensity Auto range. Additional information also reveals that the new operating system would underpin the upcoming infotainment system. According to reports, MediaTek will integrate Nvidia Drive OS, Drive IX, CUDA and TensorRT software technology into the new operating system. Instead, the development of integrated infotainment brings more in-vehicle options to automakers on the Nvidia Drive platform.

MediaTek’s development of vehicle AI comes on the heels of Nvidia’s sensational run that has reached a trillion-dollar market cap. The Santa Clara-based chip maker has seen exponential growth in value and is not far from a $1 trillion valuation. Nvidia’s market rally is due to an increase in quarterly earnings forecasts and a better-than-expected sales forecast. The chip maker has ramped up production to meet growing demand due to the rapidly growing popularity of accelerated computing and generative artificial intelligence.

Nvidia’s lofty operating outlook has also recently sparked a rebound in other tech-exposed companies like Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and C3.ai Inc (NYSE:AI).
