Netherlands to procure Rafael’s Spike LR2 missiles

3

The Dutch military has announced it will buy more than 200 medium-range anti-tank missile launchers that will boost combat range, for an investment of up to 250 million euros ($277 million) from Israeli state-owned Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, Defense News reported.

The Dutch Army and Marines are planning to switch to Rafael’s Integrated Launcher Module, which can fire the Spike LR2 missile at a range of 5,000 meters, according to the report. The report is based on a letter sent to the Dutch parliament by Dutch Defense Minister Gijs Tuynman. Tuynman said the system is compatible with the country’s inventory of older Spike missiles.

Deliveries are scheduled for 2026-2028. Germany has also purchased Spike missile launchers from Rafael.

Earlier this year, the Netherlands halted exports of F-35 fighter jet parts to Israel after a Dutch court ruled that the freeze was due to suspected “war crimes” committed in Gaza. The Dutch government is appealing the court ruling.
