NTA publishes tender to operate Green and Purple Lines

NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System Ltd. today issued the tender to operate the light rail in the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Green and Purple Lines area, which is currently under construction. The tender for operating the lines after construction is completed is worth billions of shekels.

According to the bid, the concession to operate the lines will be granted for a period of 10 years. The operator will be responsible for working with companies building the lines, hiring manpower and a trial period to operate when the lines are completed and will need to obtain a permit from the regulator and a work permit for MRT stations on the Green Line.







Meanwhile, the operating schedule for the lines has been pushed back several times in recent years. The Green Line, which was scheduled to begin operations in 2025, has been postponed to 2027, and is now scheduled to start operating in 2028. The line extends 39 kilometers from Rishon Lezion and Holon in the south to Herzliya in the north by four kilometers. Underground lines in Tel Aviv. The Green Line will have 63 stations and the trains are expected to carry 200,000 passengers daily.

The Purple Line was also initially scheduled to start in 2025 but has been delayed until 2026 and more recently to 2027. The line will run along Arlozorov Street in Tel Aviv through Givatayim and Ramat Gan to Aluf Sde and then on to Givat Shmuel and Or Yehuda in the east. The Purple Line will be 27 kilometers long, with 46 stations, and will carry 200,000 passengers daily.

The Tevel Company won the tender to operate the Red Line, as the line is scheduled to start operating in the coming weeks between Petah Tikva and Bat Yam after many valve.
