Pro-XRP lawyer John Deaton has secured the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate after a convincing primary victory. Deaton, a former Marine who represented 75,000 holders in the Ripple vs. U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) case, won 64.6% of the vote, leaving his closest competitor, industrial engineer Bob Antonellis, in second place with 26.2%, and Quincy City Council President Ian Kane, who received 9.2% of the vote, in a distant third.
The nomination puts Dayton in a position to challenge Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren in the general election in November. The preliminary results, with more than 92 percent of the vote counted according to Politico, indicate a decisive victory for Dayton, who has positioned himself in a stark contrast to Sen. Warren, especially on key issues.

After his victory, Dayton expressed appreciation for the voters’ support and outlined the next steps for his campaign, emphasizing a return to unity and solving problems in politics.

The reaction from the crypto community was quick and enthusiastic, with many prominent figures joining in to celebrate Deaton’s win. Caitlin Long, founder and CEO of Custodia Bank, congratulated Deaton via mail On X: “Congratulations John Dayton! The Associated Press has already called your race. It will be fun to watch you compete with Elizabeth Warren in the general election. I hear she’s out of the Democratic Party these days…”
Similarly, Mark Cuban, former principal owner and current minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks, said: Quoted Congratulations: “Congratulations John Deaton!!! Only one win left!” Bankless podcast host Ryan Sean Adams tweeted, via X: “John Deaton is officially out against Elizabeth Warren. Maybe we can force the leader of the anti-crypto army into early retirement.”
In response to Dayton’s nomination, Warren’s campaign was quick to point out the influence of the crypto industry in this election. Her campaign manager, Janice Rotenberg, released a statement highlighting the influx of money from crypto-related entities and individuals, who she claims are trying to influence the election in their favor.
“A handful of crypto billionaires and corporate special interests have poured over $2 million into a political action committee to pick their preferred Republican candidate, and now Massachusetts voters have a clear choice that could determine control of the Senate,” Rotenberg comment To AP.
Deaton’s campaign funding reflects significant support from the cryptocurrency sector, with significant contributions from figures such as Ripple CEOs Chris Larsen and Brad Garlinghouse, as well as Gemini founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. According to Federal Election Commission records, Deaton had raised about $1.7 million by July 31.
It is worth noting that Warren has accepted two motions for debate in Boston and Springfield. The current senator is known for her anti-crypto stance, which she has demonstrated in several bills in recent years. Deaton could be an important figure for the crypto industry, which could lead to the end of Warren’s regime.
