Rafael adapts Trophy tank protection system for aerial threats

8

The active protection system in the Rafael Advanced Defeense Systems can only thwart the anti -tank missiles, but low -air air threats including helicopters and drones can also be fired, according to “Bulgarian military” reports.

The cup protects tanks and armored transport companies (APCS) and is one of Rafael’s most demanding products, especially after its performance in the war over the past 16 months, in which it was great assistance in the Israel Defense Army maneuvers, especially in the Gaza Strip.

The active protection systems in the cup were operated since 2010 and were used by the first tank department in the Protection Edge process in 2014. In 2018 it was purchased by the American armored corps, and in 2021 it was chosen for the German leopard tank and the UK competitor tank.

Today, the cup system is installed on 16 platforms all over the world, but it has not been operated on a comparaable scale with the war in Gaza, with hundreds of regimes that are transferred in this field. Systems adapt to contemporary missile challenges to combat the suffocating, which experts define as unprecedented. However, the modern battlefield is constantly changing, as drones are increasingly playing a more important role.

“We have asked ourselves about how to adapt the current regime to deal with these threats,” said a senior official in Raphael in the Bulgarian army. “Over the course of last year, a series of experiments showed that this can be done through a few software updates and the minimum devices alternatives.”
