Tel Aviv – New York fares stay high despite US airlines return

The return of American airlines to Israel and Arkia in the direct aviation market between the United States and Israel has raised hopes for their travel. However, at least in the coming months, the prices seem to not decrease to the prices before the war.

Since the beginning of the war, the prices of ambassadors that rose more than they were on direct flights between Israel and the United States. Because of the limited supply and the disappearance of American airlines from the Israeli market, EL Al was the only carrier that works on direct Tel Aviv flights – New York.

Passers looking for alternatives were forced to search for flights, but even in this market sector, it was not easy to find tickets – mainly due to the lack of European airlines. The offer does not keep up with the request

Arkia entered Israel – the American market two weeks ago with three weekly flights between Tel Aviv and New York – a small number compared to dozens of trips that were run by United, Delta and American previously. Arkia also has significant defects compared to its competitors by the lack of agreements with Codeshare with foreign airlines, and it also does not have a loyal club that allows the accumulation of points and benefits on flights, making it less attractive to repeated travelers and commercial travelers.

In other words, even additional flights, given the partial return of American airlines, is not enough to return travel flights on flights to the United States to pre -war levels – and until full flights return, it is difficult to expect to fall.

Additional external factors also affect ticket prices. The lack of spare parts and aircraft around the world and the inability of aircraft manufacturers to keep pace with production is an increase in the costs of airlines. Thus, in the coming months, Israel may face “purchase of revenge” – a phenomenon that also occurred after Covid.
