Kwon and passport scandal

Kwon’s denial comes in response to accusations linking him with fraudulent travel documents and alleged financial ties to Milojko Spajic. Terra’s founder maintains that these allegations are unfounded, denying any personal involvement.

During a recent hearing in Montenegro, Kwon maintained his innocence, claiming that he was unaware of the passport he was traveling with being forged. According to him, he obtained travel documents, including a Costa Rican passport, through outside agencies.

Kwon explained to the Montenegrin Magistrates Court that he had obtained a Costa Rican passport by completing the necessary paperwork through a Singaporean agency recommended by a friend. In addition, he revealed that he obtained his Belgian passport through another agency. He defended himself by saying that he had used a Costa Rican passport for several years without any reason to doubt its authenticity.

“I received my Costa Rican passport after filling out the required documents from a Singaporean agency recommended to me by a friend. I received my Belgian passport through another agency.”

When pressed for more details about the agency responsible for his passports, Kwon admitted he could not remember the exact name but stated that it was written in Chinese.

In addition to refuting allegations of passport fraud, Kwon also defended Han Chong-joon, the former CFO of Terraform Labs, and asked the court to punish him instead of Chong-joon. Notably, both Kwon and Chong-joon were arrested in Montenegro after evading authorities for months after the sudden crash of the Terra-luna blockchain last year.

Do Kwon refutes the claims of a financial donation

Furthermore, Kwon denied allegations of making financial donations to Milojko Spajic, the former Minister of Finance of Montenegro and the current leader of the Europe Now party.

It was earlier reported that Kwon had reached out to Spajic in a letter sent to several Montenegrin officials before the country’s recent elections.

However, Kwon’s lawyers strongly denied the allegations, calling them false accusations. On the other hand, Spaji rejected any connection with Kwon, even though the rumored financial relationships between the two people garnered a lot of media attention.

After the hearing, Judge Ivana Pesic revealed that she will deliver a ruling on the fraud charges on June 19. United States and South Korea.

Since his arrest, the United States and South Korean authorities have been actively seeking Kwon’s extradition to face charges in both countries.

Recently, Kwon was transferred to extradition custody, where he will remain until the completion of the operation, which will determine whether he is extradited to the United States or South Korea.

In May, Coinspeaker reported that the Montenegrin Supreme Court had rejected Terra co-founder’s bail application due to insufficient evidence.

However, a court in Montenegro recently approved a revised version of the proposed bail at $436,000.
