Uber expands free childcare support to over 100,000 UK drivers in industry-first move

Uber has announced the expansion of the country in the leading child care support system, as more than 100,000 drivers across the UK have provided their access to free and flexible children through a partnership with the children's care platform on demand.

This step follows a successful pilot launched in 2023, which provided 1000 drivers with a total of 10,000 hours of fully funded children's care. Based on this positive response – with 96 % of the participating drivers who say the support has made it easy to work more than hours – Uber will now provide 20 hours of free child care per year for all UK drivers.

This initiative is designed to support working parents, especially mothers, who often face barriers in front of their earnings during peak hours such as evenings and weekends due to childcare responsibilities. By enabling drivers to reach a trusted and flexible child care through the bubble, Uber hopes to help more parents benefit from high prices while improving the balance between work and life.

Bubble, a leading child care service in the UK, connects families with local and local nannies and nannies, available in advance and in short notice. Through the Uber Partnership, parents can reserve support that is appropriate for their unexpected or flexible tables.

“Received children's care during the pilot, it really showed me the easiest things when sharing the burden,” said Tania Niser, Uber driver and a single mother for three children. “Access to reliable care means that I can drive without distraction, earn more, and I am still present to my children. It is not only about working – it is also related to luxury.”

Uber drivers currently get 30 pounds per hour when making trips, as many indicate flexibility as a great benefit. However, the responsibilities of child care can limit when parents can work, which affects the potential of their gain. The company hopes that the expanded benefit also attracts more parents – especially women – to the platform, help in treating gender imbalance and enhancing greater participation in the workforce.

“This is Uber's world for the first time and a big step forward,” said Andrew Brem, General Manager of the UK, said. “By expanding the scope of free child care to every driver in the UK, we hope to remove one of the biggest obstacles facing working parents and show that flexibility can work alongside meaning with meaning.”

This announcement comes amid increasing concern about the cost of child care and accessibility in the United Kingdom. According to modern data, more than two -thirds of parents working to abandon their jobs because of the costs of caring for children, and left one out of every ten mothers of the workforce completely.

“Flexible work requires flexible care for children. With this partnership, Uber sets a new standard-which understands the facts of modern patronage and motherhood,” said another Arya, CEO and co-founder of Bubble.

In addition to supporting children's care, Uber drivers in the United Kingdom now benefit from a set of protection, including holiday salaries, pensions, free disease and injury cover – part of the company's broader strategy to improve conditions for workers.
