Major U.S. stock indexes are trading mixed in early trading ahead of an early close at 1 p.m. Tomorrow, the U.S. stock market will be closed in observance of the Independence Day holiday. The bond market closes today at 2 p.m. ET and will be closed tomorrow as well:
- The Dow Jones Industrial Average is trading up 36 points, or 0.09%, at 39,371. The Dow’s record closing level is 40,003.60.
- The S&P 500 is trading up 3.55 points, or 0.07%, at 5,513.
- The Nasdaq Composite is trading up 1.8 points, or 0.02%, at 18,032.01.
The small-cap Russell 2000 index is trading up 4.23 points, or 0.21%, at 2,038.05.
Tesla shares rose another 3.1% in early trading.
In the US debt market, yields are moving lower and trading near their lowest levels for the day.

The final reading of the S&P Global Services PMI for June will be released at 9:45 a.m. ET. The preliminary reading came in at 55.1 versus 54.8 last month.
At 10 a.m., the Institute for Supply Management’s non-manufacturing PMI for June will be released, and is expected to come in at 52.5 versus 53.8 last month. For comparison, last month’s employment rate was 47.1, the prices paid component was 58.1, and new orders were 54.1.
Factory orders for May at 10 a.m. are expected to rise 0.2% versus 0.7% last month. The preliminary durable goods data released six days ago came in at 0.1%. The revised figures will be released with factory orders.
