Walmart adds tiny houses to its catalog

Big box retailers seem to have everything for the home these days, including the home.

Walmart has started selling tiny homes, months after Amazon showed off unusually stylish pop-up dwellings. “Expandable Prefabricated House” from Chery Industrial Company It cost you $15,900 For 19 x 20 ft option.

That’s significantly less than what Amazon was charging for the same tiny house in April. (Amazon was asking $19,000, although they offered a $1,000 off coupon at the time. Currently, the home is not available on that site.)

However, bargain hunters should be aware that you can get a cheaper price on a slightly smaller version of prefabricated homes via Go directly to the manufacturer. A 15-by-20-foot version of the expandable dwelling is currently on sale for just under $12,000.

You’ll need to provide some things yourself if you decide to buy one of these homes, such as a plot of land to build the house on, as well as a foundation, power source, and water supply. But the house is equipped with a toilet, shower and some cupboards. Door locks are included as well.

Shipped home in folded condition. Once it arrives, you and some friends will have to fold down the walls and ceiling to expand it to its full size. You’re on your own when it comes to furniture, of course, but you can buy it from Walmart or Amazon, too.

The tiny house movement has also seen increasing popularity in the past two decades, as millennials push back against “McMansions” and housing prices rise. A 24-year-old who chose a tiny house in her parents’ backyard has managed to save enough money to buy a $250,000 home and gain a large TikTok following for the tiny apartment lifestyle.
