Meta will make these AI capabilities more accessible to people.
Mark Zuckerberg recently revealed that Meta (NASDAQ:META) is seeing “incredible breakthroughs” in its use of generative artificial intelligence (AI). Like many other tech giants, Meta is also in the middle of the artificial intelligence race, which has become the latest development in the market. Not only technology companies, but various organizations in various fields are also starting to adopt AI in the latest development.
Meta scores significant breakthroughs with generative AI
According to a spokesperson, the head of Meta spoke about the areas in which the company uses generative AI during a meeting with employees on Thursday. The meeting took place at the Hacker Square Pavilion at the tech company’s headquarters in Menlo Park. Notably, this event is the first to happen at the sites since pre-pandemic days.
In a joint statement with CNBCZuckerberg said:
“In the past year, we’ve seen some really amazing breakthroughs – qualitative breakthroughs – in generative AI and this now gives us the opportunity to take advantage of this technology, drive it forward, and integrate it into every one of our products.”
In addition, he noted that Meta will work to make these AI capabilities more accessible to people. The CEO said that the company will bring technology to people in a unique way that is different from others. He and other executives discussed how artificial intelligence could help create 3D visuals for the metaverse. Zuckerberg is moving aggressively into AI, with Meta announcing that employees now have access to multiple AI tools. The purpose is to enable them to develop prototypes while the company organizes a hackathon for them to present their AI projects.
The Meta CEO’s plan includes putting AI scripts, image and video generators into its flagship products like Facebook and Instagram. The development will allow Instagram users to edit photos via text prompts and share them in their Stories feature. Moreover, Meta enables Messenger and WhatsApp users to interact with AI-powered chatbots.
Instagram is said to be working on an AI Chatbot
Meanwhile, Coinspeaker reported on Wednesday that Meta-owned Instagram is working on an AI chatbot. The matter was revealed by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi who shared some screenshots which indicate that the social media app is about to unveil an AI chatbot.
Also, Meta spoke about the recent layoffs at the same event where he talked about the “breakthroughs” the company has seen in the field of artificial intelligence. The tech giant began another round of layoffs in late May. The new decision means that an additional 6,000 employees will lose their jobs on top of the more than 20,000 jobs cut since November. While other layoffs have focused on the engineering and hiring teams, the most recent workers are in the business division.
