Bitcoin is a technique. Not some of the power of the universe, some of the natural or metal elements that were “discovered” floating in the ether. It is a technique. Technologies are created by humans, and have not been discovered. It is designed. This design has an intention, elements of it are made specifically in a way to facilitate that intention. The campaigns that technology can deal with or cannot address are the result of these design decisions, which in turn are the result of intent.
The new Bitcoiners is brought to the world of bitcoin through a lens that blocks and distorts the facts of bitcoin as technology and what it requires, and tries to pack them in the “Digital Gold” box.
Bitcoiners has become Goldbugs. People who suffer from Bitcoin is a “fair cause”, which is successful in the future and absolute certainty.
This is a catastrophic way for people to visualize Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a decentralized computer network. Network conditions are not fixed. Changing environments, network change, the behavior of the network users changes. All of these things can have effects on the feasibility and work of the network.
Gold does not need stains for weaknesses. Gold does not have to fix the main sub -systems because the change in the user's behavior has increased its load to the point of not working properly or efficiently. Gold does not need anxiety about the tankers of rejecting service that can be disrupted, or the worst reduction status, the entire “golden network”.
Bitcoin does. Bitcoin is not “digital gold”, it is a central network made of programs that individuals actually have to run and maintain. Bitcoin Goldbugs has completely lost a connection with this reality, at least when it comes to a rational risk assessment on Bitcoin, or the ways you can really fail or be chosen.
Bitcoin will face problems that need to be solved, at the primary technical level. He is already, he will have more. This is how technology works, it is a root part of it. The bitcoin value stems from its use as a control network, which is freedom that no one can prevent you from using it. This is its basic value.
These are completely distinctive hinges on their decentralized nature.
If people do not work to defend this decentralized nature, to interact with bitcoin in a decentralized manner, to improve and fix it as needed to face restrictions or pressure that encourage centralization, the decentralization will not remain.
We will soon regret the consequences of focusing a lot of communication in the past few sessions on spreading this “digital gold” narration. This entire generation of Bitcoiners mainly does not understand that decentralization is not unique and unchanging in stone forever.
It must be preserved.
