Wizz Air brings forward return to Israel

1

Low-cost airline Wizz Air announced the gradual resumption of activity in Israel, starting from December 20. Wizz Air will initially restore service on the Tel Aviv-Larnaca route, with four flights per week. The company said that information regarding other routes, on which it expects to resume flying from January 15, will be published later. It was originally planning to return to Israel on that date, and is the first airline to advance its return date.

Earlier today, Azerbaijan Airlines – AZAL officially announced that it will return to Israel as of November 30, becoming the first company to announce its return since the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon entered into force. The airline is offering a 30% discount on tickets purchased by December 1 for flights scheduled through the end of April 2025.

Azerbaijan Airlines suspended its flights between Tel Aviv and Baku when the war broke out. It regained it in March of this year, and announced its intention to expand its activity in Israel despite the war, but following the Al-Nidaa attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon in September, it canceled its flights, first for a few days and then for a longer period. .

Sources told Globes that the Greek airline Aegean is expected to return to Israel next December.

Nir Mazur, vice president of marketing at travel agency Aviation Links, hopes other airlines will follow suit. “The prospect of aviation stabilization resulting from the ceasefire brings with it excellent news. In the short term, we expect to see more airlines returning, which will increase supply and have a beneficial effect on air ticket prices.”
