Alibaba Cloud – a subsidiary of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba – together with Avalanche have built a launchpad for companies to deploy metaverses on a layer-one blockchain.
Dubbed “Cloudverse,” the platform is designed as a one-stop-shop solution for companies to easily customize, launch, and maintain their metaverse space, thus creating new dimensions of customer engagement.

According to the official blog post, all the blockchain elements in the new offering, such as digital land, wearables and other digital assets, are built on Avalanche.
Alibaba Cloud is mandated to provide scalable, highly efficient and secure cloud architecture offerings, including computing, storage, database, networking and intelligent operating platforms. On the other hand, Avalanche, together with a third partner called MUA DAO, will focus on providing solutions for building metaverse spaces.

Xiao further added,
“By launching Avalanche’s metaverse launch platform for CloudVerse, we are excited to offer companies a way to launch their metaverse journeys and drive innovation and new capabilities for their businesses while elevating customer experiences.”
The partnership between Alibaba Cloud and Avalanche dates back to December 2022, when the two entities announced an integration to power previous Node-as-a-Service initiatives. During the same time, the cloud computing division of the Chinese conglomerate began offering infrastructure and tools to help users in Asia launch validators on the network.
Web3 Alibaba Cloud Strategy
As it consolidates its footprint in the Web3 space, Alibaba Cloud recently revealed plans to accelerate the growth of a more comprehensive and secure modern internet powered by blockchain technology. As such, the company partnered with the first layer blockchain protocol – Elastos – last month in order to build and deploy next-generation solutions.
Besides, Alibaba Cloud also signed a memorandum of understanding with Sui blockchain developer Mysten Labs in January to develop sustainable Web3 ecosystems.
