The Board of Directors of Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) has chosen Uri Allon as Chairman of the Bank. He will replace Dr. Shmuel Ben-Zvi, who held this position for the past year.
The candidates for president were Alon, former director general of the Ministry of Finance and CEO of Hotline Communications Systems Ram Belenkov; and former president of Mercantile Bank and credit card company Cal, Esther Deutsch. The secret vote was held this morning in two rounds.

The Board of Directors of Bank Leumi includes eleven members, but the three candidates, all of whom are current directors, did not participate in the first round of voting. Ram Belenkov withdrew from the first round, then joined the voting in the second round, which Alon won by one vote.
Before joining the Board of Directors of Bank Leumi, Alon was Vice President of credit card company Isracard, where he was responsible for strategy, data, business development and new growth drivers.
Prior to that, he was CEO of travel agency Gulliver, Vice President of Clients at Direct Insurance, and Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Hot Tecommunication Systems. Alon has also worked as a director for clothing companies Adika, American Express and Mehadrin.
Alon holds a first degree in political science from Tel Aviv University and a master’s degree in business administration from Ben Gurion University of the Negev.
Alon thanked the Leumi Board of Directors for the appointment, and added: “I will look forward to helping Leumi with my experience, especially in the field of technology, to continue leading the banking system in all areas.”
