Court Restrains Arthur Hayes from Abusing 3AC Founder Su Zhu: Report

27

Su Zhu, co-founder of now-defunct cryptocurrency hedge fund Three Arrows Capital (3AC), has been granted a restraining order from a Singaporean court against Arthur Hayes, co-founder and former CEO of cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX.

According to the court document CoinDesk held that the restraining order prohibited Hayes from using any derogatory or abusive communication that would cause Zhu to be alarmed, harassed or distressed.

Hayes refrained from mistreating Chu

In the past few months, Hayes has persistently demanded that Chu and his partner at 3AC Kyle Davis pay off $6 million in debt that resulted from last year’s hedge fund collapse.

Remember, Three Arrows Capital was ordered into liquidation by a BVI court in June due to the challenges it faced amid the first wave of the 2022 crypto winter due to the collapse of the Terra-Luna ecosystem. The demise of 3AC, which had ripple effects in the industry, left the hedge fund owing its creditors more than $1 billion.

Chu and Davis disappeared after the failure of 3AC, but reappeared several months later in a Bloomberg interview announcing the launch of OPNX, an exchange for commercial bankruptcy claims. The duo launched OPNX on April 4, with a blueprint for a giveaway from its parent token, FLEX.

In several tweets, Hayes criticized and mocked the 3AC founders’ attempts to raise funds for their new platform. He once said that a “little bird” told him that the duo had amassed big money from a sovereign wealth fund in Bahrain.

The former BitMEX CEO also cut short their interview with Bloomberg while mocking and criticizing some of their statements. Highlighting a section where Zhu said they failed to realize that Luna could drop to zero in a matter of days and the impact this would have on the crypto industry, Hayes mocked them for not reading the asset’s white paper.

There are no connections from now on

In the restraining order, Harassment Court Judge Sandra Lowe A. Lynn prohibited Hayes from communicating with Cho by any means and publishing any identifying information.

From now on, the BitMEX co-founder is prohibited from using abusive or threatening words on Zhu. Judge Lane also ruled that the matter could be brought to Hayes via his Twitter account.
