Terminal 1 to reopen in last week of March

3

The first station will be reopened at Ben Gurion Airport in the last week of March for local flights after the completion of the renewal and maintenance work that started last November. Low -cost international flights will start using the station from the end of the month. The Israel Airports Authority estimates that 25 % of all flights at Ben Gurion Airport will use station 1, with a total of about 1,377 flights during April.

In the first phase it is expected that EL AL 80 weekly flights of Terminal 1 will run 110 weekly flights; Ryanair 86 weekly flights; Arkia 40 weekly flights; Israir is more than 30 weekly flights. Easyjet will not resume trips to Israel until June.

Over the past year, the station was closed twice due to the decrease in the activity of airlines to and from Israel due to the war and the absence of foreign airlines. Station 1 closure came immediately at the beginning of the war until it was reopened at the beginning of June 2024. In November 2024, Station 1 was closed again by the Israel Airports Authority to carry out renewal operations.

Station 1 is a task for airlines that want to reduce operating costs because it receives less taxes than Party 3 because it provides more basic services, with less choice of stores free of customs duties and smaller passengers. The total station 1 operates about 20 dollars cheaper for each passenger.

Will the reopening of station 1 affect the prices? A senior executive of a low -cost airline routinely operating at Ben Gurion Airport explains that even after returning to Station 1, there are no immediate discounts in the fare due to the costs of moving between the stations.
