Turkey approves renewal of exports to Israel

0 3

The Turkish Trade Ministry sent letters to factories in the local construction industry that worked with Israel until the export ban on 54 items imposed exactly one month ago, and informed them today (Thursday) of temporary approval to resume supplies to Israel, sources familiar with the matter said. With this matter said “globe”.

This is not an approval to export general construction products to Israel, but it is a temporary approval and only for factories that have already worked with Israel. This development appears to stem from a meeting held in Ankara yesterday between senior officials in the Turkish-Israeli Chamber of Commerce and senior officials in the Turkish Ministry of Commerce.

During the meeting, Turkish businessmen expressed their dissatisfaction with the comprehensive ban on exporting goods to Israel, which was first reported by the Globes newspaper last Thursday. The current relaxation may be due to the fact that Turkey now realizes that the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is not close to being achieved. Therefore, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wanted to portray, for his political needs, that his actions “forced Israel to its knees,” and this is clearly not the case now.

At the same time, sources told Globes that the Israeli Foreign and Economy Ministries have been working feverishly in recent days to stop Israel's long-term dependence on imports from Turkey.

In addition, a trilateral conference between Israel, Greece and Cyprus, to be attended by Foreign Minister Israel Katz and Economy Minister Nir Barkat, is likely to be announced soon, which aims to establish a closer relationship between Israeli, Greek and Cypriot importers. Suppliers, which will replace Turkish companies.
