US stocks are trading higher and looking to extend win-streaks for the broader indices

Major US stock indexes open modestly higher. As the day begins, the S&P and Nasdaq are on a four-day winning streak, looking to extend it to five straight days this week. It’s Friday the 13th. Can markets rise above this jinx?

The current market snapshot shows:

  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average is trading up 161.44 points, or 0.40%, at 41,253.47.
  • The S&P is trading up about 14.30 points, or 0.26%, at 5,610.55.
  • The Nasdaq Composite is trading up 33 points, or 0.199%, at 17,605.80.

The small-cap Russell 2000 index is trading up 29.05 points, or 1.36%, at 2,158.45.

Looking at the US debt market, yields are lower as the year comes to a close. The yield on 2-10 year notes is now around 8 basis points positive:

  • 2-year yield 3.578%, -7.0 bps
  • 5-year yield 3.431%, -3.6 bps
  • 10-year yield 3.657%, -2.3 bps
  • 30-year yield 3.987%, -0.9bps

Looking at other markets:

  • Crude oil price rose by $0.48 and $69.46. During the trading week, the price is still up by 2.10%
  • Gold is poised to hit a new record high yesterday and continues this trend today. The price is up $21.31 or 0.83% at $2,580.
  • Silver rose $0.83, or 2.8%, to $30.68.
  • Bitcoin price fell by about $300 to $57,824.
